NEW Full Plate Diet Weight Loss Program: Do you need to lose weight? Want to help others achieve and maintain a healthy weight? Check out the new Full Plate Diet eight-session weight loss program, by Lifestyle Center of America physicians. Not only will you see how to enjoy a full plate and still lose weight but you’ll also learn the 10 weight loss tools successful losers use unconsciously. It's a fully scripted, small group program that is very easy to facilitate. For sample chapters, ordering information, and other resources, visit www.fullplatediet.org.
I have really enjoyed this book--it is practical, relevant, colorful, and easy to use. And I've seen it work in the lives of clients who have adopted the principles. Last week I learned that there is a special 50% refund on facilitator and participant program materials when you finish a program by December 31! So many of us tend to gain weight over the holidays. Why wait until New Years? Hold a Full Plate Diet program to help people enjoy a healthy Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday. Concerned about meeting once a week over the holidays? Consider conducting the support group by phone, using a free conference line such as www.freeconferencepro.com.
Available materials include:
The Full Plate Diet Book
Facilitator Guide – a 43 page notebook outlining word-for-word instructions on teaching the material to small group
Participant Workbook – 83 page full-color workbook used by each member of the group for personal introspection and fun exercises each session.
The Full Plate Diet audio book on CD – allows you to listen to most of the book chapters while in the car or working around the house
12-Week Start Up Diary – Handy 32-page full-color diary for participants to use in tracking their fiber and water intake for 12 weeks.
Monthly vegetarian supper clubs . . . a First Place Bible study group to help people lose weight . . . a neighborhood walking club . . . blood pressure screenings at the local fair . . . a vegetarian café . . . supporting a co-worker’s efforts to stop smoking . . . each of these activities are examples of how Adventists in Pennsylvania are living the mission by touching others through Health Ministries. As a result, the door is opened to share the good news that God is our Master Restorer—the One who wants to heal and restore us physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
Cheryl Goff, BSN, RN, C
Health Ministries Director
Wholeness and health have been an emphasis of the Seventh-day Adventist church since the 1860s when the church began. The Bible is filled with rich images of healing and restoration. Our part is to cooperate with God's restorative work in our own lives, to point others to Christ as the Restorer, and to support them in the process. This is the essence of Health Ministry.
Current initiatives for the Pennsylvania Conference include treating Pennsylvania as a mission field and fostering mission intentional churches. The visionof the Health Ministries Department is to be an active part of this missional focus and carry out the instruction in Medical Ministry page 204, "When connected with other lines of gospel effort, the medical missionary work is a most effective instrument by which the ground is prepared for the sowing of the seeds of truth, and the instrument by which the harvest is reaped."
The primary mission of the Health Ministries Department is to engage, educate, and enable Pennsylvania churches in establishing or improving the health ministries outreach to their community.
