Communication
If people don’t know who you are, they tend to guess—and they usually guess wrong. There are over 12 million people living in Pennsylvania. Only one in 750 is an Adventist. Millions don’t have any idea who Seventh-day Adventists are, and many are guessing.
In addition to sharing news and information within our churches and promoting conference-wide initiatives, the goal of the communication department is to assist local churches in connecting with their community.

Ministry Idea:
Marketing Your Church through DVDs
Everyone loves a good DVD.
You can use this form of communication to let your community know about your church.
Create a DVD that tells people who you are, what you offer and invites them to visit and participate.
Creating a DVD today is simple. Most computers come with movie making programs.
Many church members have digital video cameras.
First, script the video. What do you want to tell them about your church? What do you offer? What will they experience if they come? Give them glimpses into various aspects of church life--small groups, children's activitiess and classes, worship services and regularly featured events.
Film it.
Get people to smile. Share short testimonies.
Make sure to get plenty of "B Roll" film. This is footage that will go over top of people talking and telling about the church and will actually show what they're talking about.
Film young adults. Young families. Get teens on camera. Show a variety of people and ages--making sure that you show your target audience things that will attract them.
Edit it in a video program.
Burn it to a DVD.
Print an attractive logo on the outside and put them in a case.
Pray over the videos.
Then hand deliver them to your neighbors. Church members can have some on hand to give to family and friends, co-workers and neighbors. Its a great and easy way to let others know who you are and what to expect when they come.
